Elements

September 30, 2009 at 10:30am
For Jr and Sr high school students
The Elements will bring together choreographers, composers, writers, and visual artists to explore issues facing the west as well as our global society. The performance features historic reconstructions, contemporary restaging and the launch of a new project to encourage environmental responsibility and to increase awareness of waht it means to care for our earth. Choreographers Ze'eva Cohen, Paul Sanasardo, Eric Handman, Mary Frances Lloyd, and Zvi Gotheiner will define our planet's fundamental essences, the four essential Elements to motivate our restorative adaptation for clean energy, clean air, clean water and a clean and healthy earth.

FOR A MOVEMENT CLASS AND A CONCERT COME AND ENJOY MYSTIQUE!

Mystique is a concert of contrasts: East/West, Male/Female, Historic/Contemporary, Yin/Yang. Legendary choreographer Michio Ito (1893-1961) created a synthesis of Japanese Noh and Kabuki, characteristic gestures drawn from Eastern and Western cultures that left a footprint on American Modern Dance. Norwegian choreographer, Jo Stromgren, is influenced by French existentialism, dark winters and lonely fjords but his work, Kraak, offers a certain lightness and absurdity along with exposive dynamic energy.
