Joyride

Repertory Dance Theatre presents a joyous concert designed to entertain people of all ages. This performance features the new choreography of RDT's own dancers Chara Huckins-Malaret, Aaron Wood, and Nicholas Cendese as well as choreography from Andrea Miller and Tim Hadel. The music is popular, the rhythms are syncopated and the mood is light and bright. The dances are a Joyride and our gift to all of you.

RDT welcomes back local rising star Andrea Miller
RDT offers Free Matinees to students: 2152 students attending

Andrea Miller is originally from Salt Lake City and a graduate from the Juilliard School. She is a rising star and talented choreographer. In RDT's Joyride Andrea Miller shows her wit and sense of humor in Girl With Microphone.

RDT offers FREE matinees to Elementary, Junior High, and Senior Highschool Students

Joyride Matinees are on November 18th and 19th. 652 Junior and Senior High School students are attending with 352 participating in Movement Classes before or after the performance. Surprise Packages Matinees are on Nov 20th and 21st. 1500 elementary school students are attending these performances.

 

Biographies

Andrea Miller is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah and a graduate of The Juilliard School. Prior to training at Juilliard, Miller studied Humphrey/Weidman technique and repertoire in Connecticut with Ernestine Stodelle. In 2006 she moved to Tel Aviv, Israel to join Ohad Naharin's Ensemble Batsheva with whom she performed throughout Israel and Europe as well as in New York. Her work has been performed in venues including Jacobs Pillow, Dance Theater Workshop, Judson Church, Joyce SoHo, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, The Flea, Battery Park, The Juilliard Theater, Clark Studio Theater, The Zipper Factory, Paul Mellon Arts Center in Connecticut, as well as in Israel, Teatron Suzan Delal and Studio Varda.

Miller is the recipient of the Hubbard Street 2 Choreographic Competition,The Stella Adler Studio of Acting Artist in Residence (MAD AIR), The Bessie Schönberg Residency at The Yard and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council MCAF Grant. Recent commissions include Repertory Dance Theater (UT), Zenon Dance Company (MN), Arts Umbrella (Vancouver) and New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble(NJ). In addition to choreography Miller teaches dance in Canada and NY and occasionally sets the work of Ohad Naharin.

Tim Hadel is originally from Kansas City, and studied dance at the University of Utah. His work has been presented at Dance Theater Workshop, The Field, DIA Center for the Arts, the SoHo Arts Festival, and as part of the Toyota Comedy Festival. Tim is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Choreographer's Fellowship. As a dancer he performed in the companies of Tandy Beal, Doug Varone, Charles Moulton, Lucinda Childs, Lar Lubovitch, and David Gordon.

Tim also curates a show for family audiences called Family Matters at Dance Theater Workshop in New York. A father of two sons, Tim Hadel has been creating and presenting wonderful family entertainment in New York City for almost a decade and brings wit and an understading of children to his work. He loves to experiment with props and almost anything inspires him to choreograph.
