MY TURKEY SANDWICH returns to The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center — Black Box Theatre in a new collaboration: "Open Faced - with a side of M.A.Y.O." Known for their signature play between humor and drama, Co-Directors Aaron Wood and Sarah Donohue create emotionally-charged dances which have electrified and charmed audiences since the company’s premiere in 2007. “Open Faced” will debut Wood's “as you are, I was - as I am, you will be”, set to the music of Ryoji Ikeda, Clint Mansell, and Milton Jackson, as well as Donohue's innovative piece, “A How to Guide”, which melds the absurdity everyday instructions with innate bodily knowledge and human curiosity. Their collaborative work, “The Fates”, follows three Grecian women gliding through a fantastical floating landscape.
Additional works in the program include a premier of Mark Borchelt's “Satie Blues”, a duet which illuminates a fractured relationship between two people. Wood's 2006 solo, “The Making of Me”, will take the stage as Repertory Dance Theatre company member Nathan Shaw illuminates his identity as a gay man in today’s culture. Actors, John Terry and Gabrielle Gaston, integrate dance with theatrical elements in an original, gut-busting modern dance competition, “Play by Play”.
MY TURKEY SANDWICH’s "Open Faced - With a Side of M.A.Y.O." runs July 9th and 10th at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Downtown Salt Lake City.
