Tutting Routine with Jon

Join Jonathan for a fun tutting routine using a table!

Tutting evolved from hip hop dance, a style that came from inner-city African American and Latino youth in the 1970s as a form of expression and protest. The movement is inspired by the 2d images in Egyptian hieroglyphs and robotic movement. Other forms of dance that are included or have derived from hip hop: breakdancing, popping, locking, whacking, jazz-funk, krumping, turfing, and more. Hip hop has become a worldwide phenomenon, inspiring people to dance.

Hip hop culture and dance came forward in the ’70s as a form of expression and protest for inner-city African American and Latino youth. It has greatly impacted America and continues to serve as a means of empowerment for the disenfranchised.
