Note: In May 2017, RDT and members of New York-based company, ZviDance, embarked on a journey to the Bears Ears National Monument. Guided by Jonah Yellowman, Mary Benally and Ida Yellowman, the three members of the Diné tribe asked us to “listen” to the land, and use our senses to gather the stories that were embedded in the earth, in the plants, and in the rocks. Our itinerary included hiking, exploring, listening, contemplating and improvising.
Now take a look at the finished Bears Ears dance, choreographed by Zvi and the dancers.
