RDT invites audiences to indulge in merrymaking and revelry. These pre-holiday festivities acknowledge friends and cohorts have gathered to celebrate RDT's half century of artistry.


CRIPPLED UP BLUES and other tales from my Deseret - (world-premiere) by William "Bill" Evans

Crippled Up Blues, pairs RDT alum William (Bill) Evans and Emmy Award-winning musician/folklorist Hal Cannon. This world premiere features live “desert music” created by The 3hattrio which acknowledges the cultural traditions of generations who have worked and lived in the deserts of the American southwest. As a native Utahn, Evans will bring his artistic sensibility and love for the region into focus around stories of the unique places and people who live here.

BEGGING THE QUESTION (world-premiere) by Claire Porter

Known for her poignant, comedic work mixing language and movement, Claire Porter has created a world premiere that offers advice about how to make sense. Begging the Question involves dancers speaking (and dancing).

JACK (2012) by Joanie Smith

A Utah Premiere of Jack by Joanie Smith (Shapiro & Smith) has a new take on a classic nursery rhythm.

SHE (world-premiere) by Jacque Lynn Bell

This piece will honor Virginia Tanner and feature dancers from the Children’s Dance Theatre alongside RDT alumni, seven of whom are graduates from Virginia’s Tanner Dance Program at the U of U.
