Jaclyn Brown (2014)

Jaclyn Brown is originally from Roosevelt, Utah. Jaclyn hails from Utah Valley University’s (UVU) BFA Modern Dance program, where she performed with Contemporary Dance Ensemble, the department’s pre-professional modern performing group, and also choreographed and performed for Synergy Dance Company. Outside of RDT, Jaclyn performs with Monica Campbell & Dancers. As a member of these companies, Jaclyn has worked with nationally recognized artists, such as, Susan Hadley, Damon Rago, John Allen, Doris Hudson de Trujillo, Jennifer Huffman, Omar Olivas, and Mike Esperanza. Beyond her local training, Jaclyn also traveled to Spain for a study abroad in dance (2010). She also appeared in Alex Boye’s music video “Merci Bon Dieu.” Jaclyn was also honored to first perform for Repertory Dance Theatre as a guest artist in “Commonplace” (2013). Jaclyn is thrilled to be joining the company for her fifth season and would like to thank her husband, family, and friends for their unwavering support.

Lauren Curley (2014)

Lauren began her training at Walker Dance in Lowell, Massachusetts at the age of four. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Hartford The Hartt School with a BFA in Dance Performance under direction of Stephen Pier and was offered a contract with Repertory Dance Theatre the day after graduation. While at Hartt, Lauren performed numerous soloist roles including Jose Limon’s Primavera from Dances for Isadora and the female solo from Psalm under direction of Nina Watt. In addition, she has studied at the Limon, Taylor, and Graham schools and Henny Juriens Stichting in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Lauren has taught extensively throughout the New England area and is very excited to continue teaching through RDT Dance Center on Broadway as well. She is thrilled to be a part of Repertory Dance Theatre and so thankful for all of the support from her family and friends!

Efrén Corado Garcia (2013)

A native of Guatemala, Efren attended Chapman University, a private liberal arts college where he received his BFA in Dance. Efren was a founding company member of Bare Dance Company (artistic director Mike Esperanza) and danced with the company from 2005-2010. From 2006-2008 he was a member of Gallimaufry and Green Dance Company with artistic director Sean Green. Efren is recipient of numerous awards for his performance, choreography, and media work, in addition to grants for the development of creative dance projects in which he researched the role of the arts as a social service. Most recently, he was awarded the second runner up prize at the Choreography Design Project in conjunction with the Utah Regional Ballet for his piece “A Road to Remembrance.” A Certified Laban Movement Analyst (CMLA), Efren was a guest dancer for RDT during the 2012-2013 season in Embark (October 2012) and Women of Valor…In the Spirit of Service (April 2013). He also competed as a choreographer in Charette 2013.

Trung “Daniel” Do (2018)

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and received his BFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah. During his time there he had the pleasure to perform works by choreographers including Shaun Boyle, Juan Carlos Claudio, Katie Faulkner, Molly Heller, Satu Hummasti, Stephen Koester, Sharee Lane, Stephen Petronio, and Lesley Telford.  He has performed at various festivals such as ACDA, Breaking Ground: Dance and Film Festival, Fringe Festival, RAW Artists, and Women in Dance Leadership Conference. After graduating college, he relocated to Portland, Oregon where he collaborated and performed with Polaris Dance Theatre, Shaun Keylock Company and presented his choreography at the Fertile Ground Festival of New Work. He was also selected as a guest dancer with Ririe Woodbury Dance Company and the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance for their Alwin Nikolais France tour. Now back in his hometown, he has presented a co-choreographed work at the 2018 Brine Dance ‘Na’ show. Additionally, he is a member of the project-basedcompany, Cat + Fish Dances. This is Daniel’s first season with RDT.

Dan Higgins (2014)

Dan is a Bay Area native where he grew up playing organized sports, particularly football (12 yrs.). The physicality and athleticism of football directly translated into his love of dance. Some of Dan’s favorite styles of dance are modern/contemporary, hip-hop, and folk dance. Dan received his training from the University of Wyoming, obtaining his B.F.A. in Dance Performance. He is currently in his third year dancing with Repertory Dance Theater in Salt Lake Cit and continues to craft his own future work with the art of dance. Dan also hopes to open his own restaurant in good time.

Elle Johansen (2017)

Originally from Salt Lake City Utah, began her dance training at the age of 9 with the Janet Gray School in Salt Lake City Utah. There she was disciplined in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and various forms of African dance. Elle earned her BFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah in 2015 where she received both the “Outstanding Senior Award” and the “Student Service Award.” Elle has a passion for dance education and is currently a teacher at the Janet Gray School, Tanner Dance at The University of Utah, South Valley Creative Dance, and a teacher with Repertory Dance Theaters AIE program. Throughout her training Elle has had the privilege to work with Hubbard Street, Alvin Ailey, and the Staaliche Balletschule School located in Berlin Germany. Elle has been a guest dancer with RDT since 2015 and officially joined the company in 2017.

Tyler Orcutt (2012)

Tyler Orcutt was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. He started ballroom dancing as a kid, and later transitioned into ballet and modern. He holds a BFA in modern dance from the University of South Florida. He has had the privilege of working with and performing in the repertoire of choreographers such as Bill T. Jones and Doug Varone. Tyler is super excited for what the future holds.

Ursula Perry (2013)

Ursula Perry was born in Houston, Texas where she began her training at the Houston Ballet Academy. Since then she has studied under various schools including those at the Boston Ballet, Joffery Ballet, Alvin Ailey, and the Edge Performing Arts Center. She then made the journey to Utah and attended the University of Utah’s Ballet Department. Since graduation, she has performed with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Prism Dance Theatre, and River North. Since her return to Salt Lake she is proud to have performed with RawMoves, Movement Forum, and Influx Dance. Ursula also peformed as a guest dancer in RDT’s April 2013 show, Women of Valor…In the Spirit of Service.

    Welcome new dancers Efren, Justin, Ursula and Alyssa! We’re thrilled to have you join RDT. Can’t wait for our first concert of the season: LEGACY, Oct. 3-5. You’ve all been amazing to watch in rehearsal.
