Repertory Dance Theatre Presents:
PRIME PERFORMANCE 2026: Creative Play
Saturdays, APRIL 18-MAY 31, 2026
11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center
Prime Performance: Creative Play is a collaborative choreographic workshop for older adults that centers each participant’s unique movement vocabulary, life experience, and creative voice. Together, participants will explore and develop original dance work that may be featured in RDT’s November 2026 home season production, LAUGHTER, with a possible additional performance in August 2026.
This year’s workshop emphasizes play, curiosity, and exploration. Using improvisation, game-based structures, and interdisciplinary approaches—including writing, poetry, drawing, and language arts—participants will co-create a lighthearted, engaging performance that connects with audiences of all ages.
What to Expect
Participants will build creative confidence and rediscover the joy of artistic play in a supportive, collaborative environment. The workshop is designed to:
- Encourage spontaneity, imagination, and creative risk-taking
- Develop skills in improvisation and collaborative creation
- Foster meaningful social connection and community
- Support cognitive flexibility, problem-solving, and adaptability
Performance Opportunities
A culminating performance will take place on the final day of our spring workshop, May 30th, 2026. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform in RDT’s November 2026 production, LAUGHTER, as well as a potential August 2026 showing. Participation in performances beyond May 2026 is completely optional and does not affect involvement in the workshop.
Commitment
You do not need to attend every session; however, participants who miss more than half of the workshops may be encouraged to join a future offering to fully benefit from the process.
