Bollywood is the informal name given to the popular Mumbai-based Hindi language film industry in India. Bollywood Dancing is one of the hottest dances around! It is the foundation of every great Indian Bollywood film. The dances are a fusion of traditional and classical indian dances with the influence of some jazz, bhangra, hip-hop and modern dance. Timing, rhythm, energy, and sharp controlled expressive movements are important elements of Bollywood.

African Dance + -

Sugarfoot: Dance Conditioning + -

Sugarfoot Therapy is a revolutionary conditioning program created by Los Angeles-based Doctors of Physical Therapy in collaboration with the many competitive and professional dancers. Used by dancers and dance educators worldwide, Sugarfoot Therapy brings the exercises of sports physical therapy to dancers. When practiced regularly, these exercises are scientifically proven to help reduce injury risk and enhance performance.

Sugarfoot Therapy bridges the gap between the principles of functional biomechanics and dance technique, creating functionally authentic movements to warm-up, mobilize, and stabilize the dancer’s body in all three planes of motion: Sagittal, Frontal, and Transverse planes. By establishing a foundation of functional movement patterns, introducing triplanar variability to these patterns, and finally adding dance-specific variables, we are able to enhance dance technique and mitigate injury risk.

Sugarfoot Therapy is optimal for every kind of dance, whatever your style, Sugarfoot Therapy will strengthen your body so that the artist in you can move freely. With the use of therabands, body-wieght, and sometimes loaded weight, Sugarfoot is a dance conditioning program that is approachable, that translates across dance genres, and that is applicable to different settings from the PT clinic to the studio setting to backstage. Please see website for further info: https://sugarfoottherapy.com/

Please bring your personal therabands, however some will be provided to borrow if needed.

Flamenco + -

Flamenco consists of three artistic elements: the cante (singing), the guitarra (guitar) and the baile (dance). The dancer physically interprets the emotion of the singer and guitar is through his or her movements, which include percussive footwork and intricate hand, arm, and body movements. The relationship between the artists is similar to that of jazz where there is a basic structure that one must follow, but at its heart, it is an improvised form.
