About
Karineh Hovsepian retired as Assistant Dean for Finance and Operations from the University of Utah College of Fine Arts last spring. She speaks fluent Armenian and is a first-generation Armenian immigrant from Iran. Karineh’s father, Yervand, and his family were among the refugees displaced during the 1915-18 Armenian genocide. She was raised in Honolulu before moving to Los Angeles, then landing Salt Lake City in 1985. She was the Vice President of the Armenian Relief Society of Utah from 1989 to 1993 and has remained active in Salt Lake City’s Armenian community since. Her self-proclaimed greatest accomplishment, however, is in raising two remarkable human beings into compassionate, strong, kind, contributing adults, each of whom thankfully possesses a large capacity for humor.
