About
Sydney Samson was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1998 where she spent the majority of her young life training with Towson University’s pre-collegiate dance ensemble under the guidance of former Liz Lerman Company member, Candice Webster. In 2017 she relocated to Columbus, Ohio to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance with a focus in creative technology, choreography, and performance. It was during her time at OSU that she studied extensively under renowned dance-film artist, Mitchell Rose, and later went on to co-curate the international dance film festival “DANCE@30FPS” in February of 2020 with Mr. Rose.
In May of 2020 Sydney graduated from OSU, Magna Cum Laude, and went on to dance for SALT2 Contemporary Dance Company based in Salt Lake City, Utah where she currently resides and continues to perform. Her choreographic and film works have been recognized both nationally and internationally, including but not limited to: ADF’s Movies By Movers 2020, Screen.Dance Scotland 2020, Dance Denmark Tour Group 2019, and Greensboro Dance Film Festival 2020. Her personal admiration for the natural world around her and passion for seeking out climate justice within the art community and beyond has heavily influenced her artistic pursuits as she continually brings issues of environmental justice to the eyes of her audience through the art of dance-filmmaking.
