SO YOU THINK YOU CAN CHOREOGRAPH

MARCH 6, 2027
RDT's gala fundraiser and unique exploration of the creative process invites community members to take on the mantle of choreographer with help from RDT mentors.
What happens when creativity takes center stage?
Get ready for a celebration of creativity, community, and a little choreographic magic! After a year away, Repertory Dance Theatre’s beloved So You Think You Can Choreograph is back—and this time, the fun is bigger than ever.   Watch what happens when passionate community members step into the role of choreographer, collaborate with professional dancers, and bring brand-new dances to life in just four hours. Each original work premieres on stage that very evening!   No experience required. No judges. No winners. Just bold ideas, unexpected discoveries, and a whole lot of fun—all in support of a great cause.   Every dollar raised supports RDT’s mission-driven work, including professional modern dance performances, arts education in Utah schools, and community programs for all ages.

Ready to Take On the Challenge?

Who We’re Looking For
  • People who are passionate about dance, movement, the body, the arts, and arts education.
  • People who want to support a 61-year-old arts organization and help it thrive into its next chapter.
  • Connectors with large networks, communities, and circles of friends who are willing to activate those networks for RDT.
Where Your Fundraising Goes
  • Your $2,500 directly supports RDT’s mission-driven work, including professional modern dance performances, arts education in Utah schools, and community programs for all ages.
  • RDT reaches thousands of Utah students each year through school residencies, matinee performances, teacher workshops, and the Heritage Project.
  • For 61 years, RDT has preserved, performed, and shared modern dance with audiences across Utah and beyond. Season 61 is our Season of Gratitude, and your fundraising helps carry that legacy forward.
What You Get in Return
  • One day, one premiere: Saturday, March 6, 2027.
  • Your own RDT mentor: You’ll be paired with an experienced RDT artist who will help bring your vision to life.
  • Real dancers, ready to work: RDT provides 6–8 professional and pre-professional dancers to perform your choreography.
  • Four hours in the studio: You’ll have four hours on March 6 to create your piece from start to finish.
  • A fully produced premiere: That evening, RDT will light and stage your work for a live audience.
  • No pressure, no judges: This is not a competition, and there is no winner. It’s a celebration of creativity, community, and the people who support RDT.
  • No choreography experience required: Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to play are all you need.
Beyond the Entry Fee: Be an RDT Champion
  • Share the story: Help spread RDT’s story through social media, email, and word of mouth.
  • Fill the seats: Invite your supporters to see your premiere. Every ticket sold is more support for RDT.
  • Bring new friends to RDT: Your network may include RDT’s next audience members, donors, and advocates.
