MARCH 15, 2025
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN CHOREOGRAPH
RDT's gala fundraiser and unique exploration of the creative process invites community members to take on the mantle of choreographer with help from RDT mentors. Join us for an unforgettable party celebrating RDT's accomplishments.
RDT is currently accepting applications from NON-DANCE PROFESSIONALS who want to try their hand at choreography. Read below for more details.
Do any of these describe you? ….you’ve sat in the audience for years and seen countless works by RDT…..you love dance so much that you often find yourself coming up with movement ideas and choreography to the newest Taylor Swift song…..you’ve attended past RDT Charette and Regalia events, loved observing the creative process and thought, “Hey! I can do that!” Calling all dance enthusiasts and aspiring choreographers! Are you ready to unleash your creative flair and imagination on the world? Join us as a choreographer for RDT’s thrilling gala fundraiser, Regalia: So You Think You Can Choreograph? We are looking for a few brave souls (that are NOT dance professionals) to try their hand at being a choreographer. RDT’s 2025 Regalia event will provide the perfect platform to share your passion for dance and make a difference in the lives of your community. What do we consider a “not dance professional?”:
  • No degree in dance - Major/minor in college (Ballet/Modern)
  • Does not actively work as a dance instructor or performer or choreographer

Are you passionate about giving back, love event planning, or simply want to make a difference in our community? We invite you to join our REGALIA Planning Committee! This is your opportunity to be part of something truly special—an event that brings people together for a meaningful cause.

As a committee member, you’ll:

  • Collaborate with like-minded individuals to create an unforgettable experience
  • Contribute your talents in event planning, marketing, sponsorship outreach, and more
  • Make a lasting impact by helping us raise vital funds to support RDT
  • Build connections with community leaders, local businesses, and philanthropists

Whether you’re a seasoned event planner or just excited to lend a hand, your contribution will help make this gala a success. Together, we can create an evening that not only celebrates our cause but also brings people closer to a brighter future.

Ready to get involved? Sign up today and help us create an unforgettable night!

We have a limited number of spots available. We will contact you if you are a good fit!

How Does it Work:

  • Each choreographer is required to:
    • complete a short application online by 10/10/24 – but sooner is better!
    • meet briefly with RDT staff to make sure all the details are understood,
    • raise $2000 as an entrance fee by February 15, 2025.
      • RDT will provide you with everything you need to help you raise funds from your network and will be with you EVERY STEP of the way as you lean on your family and friends to help your dream come true AND support a great organization.
  • Each choreographer will be paired with an RDT mentor who will help bring your vision to life. Each choreographer will participate in a choreography master class alongside their mentor to help them learn about the process of choreography, stimulate ideas, movement, themes, and help prepare them for the event.
  • On March 15, 2024 each choreographer will have 4 hours to create a new work on RDT dancers and guest performers from the Salt Lake community.
  • Your final work will be shown at REGALIA 2025 to an audience and panel of judges. Don’t worry – everyone wins in this celebration of community choreography!

  • Anyone who is NOT a dance professional. We’re looking for RDT die-hards who LOVE the art of modern dance, but haven’t actually performed or choreographed themselves.
