Nina Watt: Invention
RDT has been working with Nina Watt in some form or another for the past five years. Starting with Missa Brevis by Jose Limon in 2014, she has been setting work and teaching pedagogy to the Company almost every summer. Critically cited as “the perfect Limon dancer,” “a dancer of genius” and “one of the most important modern dancers of her generation,” Ms. Watt is a 2002 recipient of the New York Dance and Performance Award for Sustained Achievement. She teaches technique and stages Limon repertory worldwide, and is currently Assistant Professor at The Hartt School, University of Hartford.
Nina was nice enough to sit down with us during her latest visit to re-stage Invention by Doris Humphrey (and teach at Dance West).
Nina talks about Humphrey’s style, the music for the work, and what it’s like working with RDT.
You can see Invention at RDT’s opening concert, INSIDE OUTSIDE, October 3-5, 2019. Tickets available here>>
